The National Consortium of STEM Schools announces that Executive Director Todd Mann will retire in December 2026, concluding more than a dozen years of visionary and impactful leadership since joining the organization.

During his tenure, Todd played a transformative role in shaping both the organization and the broader national STEM education landscape. Under his leadership, NCSS helped steward and elevate the national definition of a STEM school—language that was ultimately embedded in federal law through The Every Student Succeeds Act. He also successfully guided the organization through two strategic changes, each reflecting significant organizational growth, an expanding national presence, and a broader mission serving K–12 STEM education communities across the country.

Todd also established NCSS’s annual Leadership Summit, which has become a premier national gathering for heads of the country’s most innovative STEM schools and programs. Through his leadership, the organization expanded its membership into a thriving global network. Through new initiatives, partnerships, and communication platforms Todd strengthened collaboration and the sharing of best practices among educators, school leaders, industry partners, and policymakers. His influence extended well beyond the organization itself as he chaired the STEM Education Coalition, where he advanced national conversations and advocacy efforts focused on strengthening STEM education policy and workforce development.

Just as important as these accomplishments, Todd is deeply respected and admired for the way he led—with integrity, generosity, strategic vision, and a genuine commitment to people. He cultivated enduring relationships across the STEM education community while consistently positioning the organization for future growth and long-term impact.

His influence will continue to be felt through the strong, connected network and the legacy he helped build. We are profoundly grateful for his dedication, leadership, and friendship. While his day-to-day presence will be greatly missed, we celebrate his remarkable contributions and wish him every happiness in a well-earned retirement.
